Name of the disease in English

Special case or inconsistency or blindness?

The disease in brief

In the condition of the calf as you have described it, we find an absence of response to the palpebral reflex: The absence of closure of the eyelids on a calf that appears "in good shape" otherwise: This association of symptoms represents a difficult situation to evaluate for the general condition; we can wonder if this apparent inconsistency is not linked to a problem of sight-blindness or a nervous problem.; we are not able to offer you a reliable suspicion. We must be careful and try to find the origin of the non-response to the palpebral reflex by deepening the differential diagnosis of this anomaly: Encephalitis? Congenital anomaly?

Clinic & diagnosis

The calf shows a general condition that is not very affected, little dehydration and normal tone, but does not respond to the palpebral stimulation reflex. The situation described seems inconsistent to us: Is it a possible error in assessment? Or in input? Or does this anomaly hide a special case?

Confirm a suspicion?

Diagnostic tests that can be performed at the bedside in rural medicine are more affordable. A blood test can be used to assess the main elements in the stable.
