Temporomandibular arthritis

The disease in brief

Temporomandibular joint arthritis is a rare disease; this arthritis can be primary - local origin - secondary - origin close by contiguity - or tertiary - hematogenous origin.

Clinic & diagnosis

In a bovine that is drooling or has difficulty eating, the absence or almost no mobilization of the jaws or the observation of joint pain during movement raises suspicion of the disease. It is advisable to be vigilant in observing the local nervous system and to carry out a thorough inspection of the mouth before establishing a diagnosis of arthritis, which is rare.
