Confirm a suspicion?
Only observation of oral lesions can confirm the disease.
Prognosis and treatment
Milder cases heal without treatment. Liquid or spray mouthwashes based on antiseptic or antibiotics are often available for other species.
–In case of deep ulcers, watch out for the presence of a dental fragment causing the problem; plan to intervene locally by applying iodine tincture.
–If superficial inflammation suggests spread to underlying tissues, implement broad-spectrum antibiotic treatment (such as Penicillin-Streptomycin, for example).
Prevention
Ensure the non-vulnerable quality of fodder.
